Before you begin
- An active Odyssey profile and authorised access to a connected source.
Turn one good choice into the next
Odyssey can suggest related films and series from a title you already recognise. Use More Like This in a detail screen for nearby suggestions, or Find Similar Content from an available title context menu for a dedicated results view.
Similarity is based on information associated with titles, including cast, directors, genres and meaningful words in story descriptions. It is not a guarantee that two films feel identical, or that every recommended title is available from your source today.
Explore from a title
- Open a film or series you know.
- Scroll to More Like This when that section has results.
- Open a suggestion and compare its synopsis, year and available source before deciding to play.
- For a broader related-title view, open the original title's context menu and choose Find Similar Content when offered.
- If the result view reports a temporary failure, use Retry. If it says No Similar Content Available, try a different starting title with richer metadata.
The dedicated similar-content route is available for admitted films and series. It is not a general Live TV channel recommender. Profile and source restrictions continue to apply before results are shown.
What makes a result similar
The implementation gives useful weight to a shared director and overlapping principal cast. It also compares genres and story-description terms. A broad label such as Drama on its own is not enough for the current title-similarity ranking.
That explains why a result may share a director's approach or a specific story theme while having a different poster style or release decade. It also explains weak or empty results when the source supplies only a title and little descriptive information.
The ranking depends on the metadata available at the time of the request. It does not read the film or infer every theme from the video itself. Metadata-service availability, identity matching and profile admission all affect the final list.
Explore Cast and Director
Detail screens can show Cast and Director or Directors. Select a person to explore their available information and titles. This is particularly useful when what you enjoyed was a performance or a director's style rather than the broad genre.
A person's page has Favourite, which changes to Following. In the verified implementation, adding that person also adds currently listed unwatched titles to your watchlist. Use it deliberately: it does more than decorate the person's portrait.
Choosing Following again removes the person's favourite status. It does not automatically remove the individual titles already added to My List. Remove those individually if you no longer want them. The stored favourite-person marker is local to the profile on that device; this guide does not promise future-release alerts or automatic cross-device following.
Follow the connection that mattered
You enjoyed the dialogue in a small-scale mystery. Start with More Like This, then compare whether a suggestion shares the director, lead actor or story themes. A large action film with one shared actor may be less relevant to your mood than a quieter mystery by the same director.
Open the director's page if their style is what you want to explore. Save one or two relevant titles to My List rather than treating the whole credit list as a mandatory viewing programme. If you do choose Favourite for the person, review the titles it adds.
Common questions
Why is the list empty? There may be no sufficiently related, permitted candidates with usable metadata. A temporary request failure may offer Retry; an empty admissible result is not necessarily a connection fault.
Does a recommendation mean the film is included? No. Open its detail page and verify a playable source. Odyssey supplies no media.
Why do profiles see different suggestions? Their source access and restrictions can differ, as can the available catalogue and profile state.
Can I undo a person favourite? Yes, select Following again. Review My List separately because the title additions are independent.
