Identify what is actually missing

“Missing” can mean several things: a title is absent from Search, a Home shelf has vanished, an episode list is empty, or a poster exists but Play cannot find a source. Start with the exact screen and symptom. Each points to a different check.

Odyssey organises media from sources you connect and supplies none itself. It cannot add a film to a provider's catalogue or make an unauthorised library available. Metadata such as posters and synopses can exist without an available stream.

Check access before changing configuration

  1. Confirm the active profile. Source assignments, profile restrictions and saved layout can differ.
  2. Use Search with the simplest accurate title. Compare the year when there are remakes or similarly named programmes.
  3. Open Search Filters, choose Reset Filters and then Apply. A source, year or genre filter can hide an otherwise valid result.
  4. If only a Home row is missing, check Settings → Rails. For unfinished viewing, also check Settings → General → Show Continue Watching.
  5. Open Settings → Sources → Provider Health to inspect the connected source's reported state and last successful refresh.

Where Kids protection restricts source settings, the appropriate owner approval is required. Ordinary adult settings do not acquire a routine owner-PIN requirement just because you are troubleshooting.

Read source health accurately

Provider Health can show a paused source, a last failure, the last successful refresh and reported catalogue counts. On Apple TV, select a source to open its detail metrics; on other platforms, the form presents the source information directly.

Not reported is not the same as zero. Some counts are unavailable until the relevant operation completes, so avoid concluding that a provider has an empty library from an absent measurement.

A healthy catalogue connection is useful evidence, but it does not prove that every individual media file plays. If the title exists and fails only after selection, continue with playback troubleshooting.

Respect profile and Adult protection

Kids Mode hides Adult content. Protected Adult content requires the appropriate PIN where the app requests it. If a title is intentionally restricted, do not disable protection simply to make a search result appear.

For other missing titles, ask the account owner to check the profile's allowed sources and restrictions. Compare results only using profiles you are authorised to access. A broader adult profile is not evidence that the restricted profile is malfunctioning.

A film is in the server but absent from Home

You can see a film in the original server library, but Odyssey's Home no longer shows its Watchlist row. Search finds the film and its detail screen plays correctly. That evidence points towards Home presentation rather than a missing file. Check the shelf's visibility and order first.

If Search also cannot find it, reset the filters, inspect Provider Health and confirm the profile can access that server. If the poster appears but there is no playable version, check the source's actual file availability and source choices instead of editing the Home shelf.

Make one correction and check again

Restore a hidden shelf, remove a mistaken filter or reconnect a source only when the corresponding evidence supports that action. Do not begin by deleting every source or reinstalling the app; doing so can remove useful context and may require saved channel bindings to be reconnected.

After the correction, repeat the same small test with the same title and profile. Record whether it now appears and whether it plays. Those are separate outcomes.

What to report if it remains missing

Send the title, year or episode number, the screen where it is missing, the source type, your device and app version, and whether the original source lists it. Include the relevant health message without credentials.

Does a weekly theme promise a particular title? No. Calendar rules, metadata and available permitted content determine the row.

Can support supply the missing film? Odyssey supplies no media. A provider catalogue or permission issue must be resolved with the responsible source.
