Choose the list that matches your intention

Favourites and the watchlist are separate. A favourite marks something you want to keep close; My List is a useful shortlist for later viewing. A title can belong to both, and neither action downloads the video or guarantees it stays in the provider's catalogue.

The interface uses different labels in different places. Mobile title actions say Favorite and My List. Home shelves are labelled Favorites and Watchlist. These names refer to the corresponding saved states, not four separate lists.

Save a title

  1. Open the film or series using the profile whose list you want to change.
  2. On iPhone and iPad, select Favorite or My List in the detail actions. The icon's selected state shows the current choice.
  3. Where the context menu is used, choose Add Favorite or Add to My List.
  4. Return to Home and look for the corresponding Favorites or Watchlist shelf, if that shelf is visible and has admitted titles.

On Apple TV, focus the title and use the available detail or context action. The action labels tell you whether selecting them will add or remove the title. Do not assume that a long press always has the same result in every screen.

Remove a title or change your mind

Use Remove Favorite or Remove from My List in the context menu, or select the active mobile action again. Removing a list entry does not delete a source file or cancel a provider account.

Watched status is another independent state. If you finish a film, you can decide whether it should remain a favourite or in your future-viewing shortlist. Do not use list removal as a substitute for correcting watched progress.

When a configured external watchlist provider owns the list, Odyssey waits for that service to confirm changes. The current implementation supports an MDBList-authoritative path and can report that an update was not confirmed. Read that message instead of assuming the tap has already been saved.

Make a small weekend shortlist

During the week, you discover three films you are authorised to watch. Add them to My List so you can compare them at the weekend without repeating the searches. After watching the one you enjoyed most, mark it as a favourite and remove it from My List if you want the shortlist to contain only unwatched choices.

If one of the remaining films disappears from a source, the list entry cannot restore it. Check the connected catalogue or another authorised source. A saved preference and a currently playable file are different things.

Be deliberate when favouriting a person

On a person's page, Favourite changes to Following. This action currently adds the person's listed unwatched titles to the watchlist. It can therefore make a small shortlist considerably larger.

Select Following again to remove the person's favourite status. The already-added titles remain until you remove them individually. This behaviour does not establish a promise of notifications for future releases, nor automatic following on every device.

If the list looks empty

  • Check the profile: another person's list can be different.
  • Check Home layout: a hidden or deleted shelf can conceal the list while its saved state still exists.
  • Check source access: titles restricted or unavailable to the current profile may not appear as ordinary playable entries.
  • Check service feedback: an external watchlist update may fail if its service cannot confirm the change.
  • Compare devices carefully: verify the same managed account and profile, then use the sync troubleshooting guide.

Quick answers

Does My List download anything? No. It saves a viewing choice; playback still requires the source.

Can I have a favourite that I have not watched? The favourite and watched states are separate. Use them in the way that helps you organise your viewing.

Does removing a shelf erase the list? Shelf configuration controls the Home presentation. Use the title's remove action when you actually want to change its saved list membership.
