Before you begin
- A compatible, enabled replacement source with valid access.
- An adult profile and applicable owner approval.
- Saved Channel Studio recipes affected by the replaced connection.
Why replacing a source matters
A saved channel remembers more than a source’s display name. It can contain references to that source and specific content selections. Removing and adding a connection can create a different source identity, even if you give it exactly the same name.
Reconnect Sources is designed to repair supported saved recipes against a currently accessible replacement. It can preserve an existing shared schedule when the content and source still match. Other channels may need programme preparation. It is not a promise that every old selection can be mapped automatically.
Prepare the replacement first
Use an adult profile and approve Channel Studio if owner approval is requested. Add or enable the replacement under Settings → Sources, or update the managed source in the website as appropriate. Check that you can browse and play a known title through it.
The replacement must be supported by Channel Studio. Normal source playback support alone is not enough: the current channel preparation path, for example, explicitly excludes Xtream. Profile access must also permit the replacement source.
Run the reconnect flow
- Open Live → Channel Studio.
- Choose Reconnect Sources.
- Under Replacement source, select the connection you added again. A selected source shows its selection indicator.
- Read Affected Channels. Some rows may need source-specific content to be reselected manually.
- Choose Reconnect Affected Channels.
- Keep Odyssey open while the background process runs. Use View Progress to return to its details.
- Inspect individual results. If offered, choose Review Reconnect Errors or View Errors to investigate a failure.
The repair action can close its screen once background work starts. That does not mean every channel has already finished. The Live section can show “Reconnecting channels in the background…” until the work completes.
What happens to each channel
Odyssey updates the affected recipe connections before preparing their programmes, so one slow programme need not hold up the other recipe changes. For compatible shared channels, it attempts to reuse an accepted schedule only after checking the replacement source and a matching programme.
A result can say Reconnected · existing schedule preserved, Reconnected, or show a future start time. Read the result for each channel rather than assuming all channels followed the same route.
If a row says to reselect source-specific content in Edit Channel, reopen that recipe and select the corresponding content from the new source. A library, collection or item identity from the removed connection may not be meaningful on the replacement.
A worked example
You replaced a home-server connection while correcting its account details. Two saved channels used broad movie selections, while another used a particular collection. Select the replacement server once and run the affected-channel repair. Confirm the first two results, then inspect the collection-based channel if it reports that its selection needs attention.
Do not delete all three channels because one failed. The repair flow preserves saved channels and tracks individual failures. Correcting the specific selection is more precise than repeatedly reconnecting an entire collection.
Leave or stop safely
Back to Channels closes the reconnect details. Keep the app open for active repair work. Changing profile stops the repair session; return to the original profile and review the state before retrying.
This is a repair that can save recipe changes and prepare publications, not a temporary visual preview. The screen has no general “undo all reconnects” promise. Check the replacement source carefully before starting.
Common questions
No replacement sources appear: add or enable a compatible source accessible to this profile, then reopen Reconnect Channels.
One channel failed while others continued: inspect its error and source-specific selection. A slow or unavailable file can fail preparation independently of other recipes.
Should I remove the saved channel to refresh it? No. Deletion is a separate destructive management action. Will reconnect grant access to missing content? No. You still need permission and a playable source for each programme.
Does the same display name guarantee schedule reuse? No. Reuse checks source and content identity, not just the label you typed.
