  • A supported saved provider channel accessible to the current profile.
  • A managed profile and supported category scope for applicable reorder actions.

Presentation and playback are separate

Channel organisation helps a large Live list become easier to scan. You can change supported channel names, presentation and grouping without changing the provider’s stream. Those edits belong to the current profile’s organisation.

These are provider-channel instructions. A published Channel Studio channel has its own menu and saved recipe; use Edit a Channel Studio channel for that workflow. Neither kind of organisation creates media rights or bypasses profile restrictions.

Open an editing action

  1. Open Live in the intended profile.
  2. Open a supported channel’s context menu.
  3. Choose the relevant action: Rename Channel, Move to Custom Category, Assign EPG Channel ID, Change Channel Icon or Hide Channel.
  4. Make the change in the editor. Where an action applies to a draft, continue back to the editor’s first page.
  5. Choose Save Changes to commit the organisation.

The actions depend on a supported saved channel reference. Reordering also depends on the managed profile and category scope. An absent Reorder action is not a reason to recreate the source.

Names, icons and categories

For a name change, enter the intended name and choose Apply Name, then save the organisation. Reset Channel Name restores the underlying presentation rather than changing the provider’s channel record.

Individual provider-channel icons use a hosted HTTPS image address. This editor does not upload an image for this flow. Use Apply Icon URL where shown, then Save Changes. Reset Individual Icon returns to a matching pack icon or the provider’s icon. This differs from the online Channel Studio custom-logo upload.

A custom category can include channels from multiple sources. Moving a channel into one preserves its provider-category membership. Editing a category label likewise preserves provider classification, parental classification and source identifiers.

Reorder and hide deliberately

Use Reorder where the Live menu offers it, or the editor’s Move Up and Move Down controls within the relevant saved order. Confirm the result with Save Changes.

Hide Channel keeps the provider channel and its saved category membership while changing its Live visibility after saving. Use it for a channel you deliberately want out of the normal view. Use favourites when you simply want a smaller shortlist without hiding anything.

A worked example

Your provider supplies several regional news channels with long prefixes. Give one a short custom label that still distinguishes its region, then place your daily channels in a custom category. Keep quality and time-shift distinctions such as HD or +1 when they matter to your choice.

Optional name cleanup can remove certain delimited prefixes, but it does not merge channels or fix a stream. The preview is useful because an apparently untidy label may carry information you want to retain.

Cancel and resolve conflicts

The editor states that changes stay in the draft until saving. Cancel can offer Discard Changes or Keep Editing. If another change has made the draft stale, use Reload Saved Organization only after considering which unsaved edits you would lose.

The wrong programme still appears after renaming: use the separate EPG assignment flow; names do not alter guide matching.

A custom icon does not load: check the hosted HTTPS image and then the saved individual override. A renamed channel is still protected: that is expected. Changing labels does not change adult classification or the profile’s permissions.

Can I delete a provider channel from the service? These controls organise Odyssey’s view. They are not a server administration tool.
